Day 7: Exploring Lake Garda (Italy)
After a well needed sleep we awake to a moody scene outside our hotel room.

After one of the best breakfasts we’ve had so far on this trip, we take a walk around the town of Riva Del Garda. Today is a “rest day” where we do not intend to do too much.
Originally, the forecast called for an entire day of rain but that has now been pushed back and the day is warm and sunny.

As the day is so lovely, we decide to drive down some of the western edge of Lake Garda and find a lunch spot.
There are some Porsche 911s loading up outside our hotel as we leave. We think this is the first Polish registered one we’ve seen. It even has night vision assist camera like ours!

We put the roof down and head along the lake shore.

There are plenty of tunnels along the route, but many are of the “open variety”, allowing us to view the lake and surrounding scenery even within them.

Parking – as ever at the Italian Lakes – is at a premium but we stumble upon a car park beside some food options that actually has some free spaces. We pull in, park up and put up the roof.

This is a quaint little bay, with plenty of lunch options right by the lake.

After eating, we head back towards our hotel, enjoying the burble of our flat-six engine in the many tunnels.

We lounge around our hotel for the afternoon, and an hour before dinner we walk through the gardens.

And down to the nearby lake shorefront towards the rear of the hotel to take some pictures.

The lakefront comes alive in the late afternoon, with people relaxing along the water and enjoying the views. With the mountains rising dramatically around the lake, it’s easy to see why this is such a popular spot.

At this stage of the day, most of the lake boats are tied up and finished plying their trade.

And of course the obligatory bridge with locks that every tourist spot seems to have.

With night rolling in and the moon up, it is time to head for food.
